HIV-Q Real-Time PCR Kit

Qualitative/Quantitative Detection of Human Immunodeficiency Virus Type- 1 (HIV-1) specific RNA by Real-Time RT-PCR:

The HIV-Q Real-Time PCR Kit is a molecular assay designed for accurate quantification of HIV-1 specific RNA in human plasma samples using real-time RT-PCR technology. It supports reliable viral load measurement for clinical monitoring, enabling informed treatment decisions, therapy evaluation, and long-term disease management.

Product Overview

The HIV-Q Real-Time PCR Kit targets a conserved region of the HIV genome using specific primers and fluorescent probes, enabling accurate detection and quantification. Fluorescence detection is performed in the HEX channel for HIV targets, while an internal control is detected in the Cy5 channel to validate extraction efficiency and amplification performance.

The kit includes four calibrated quantification standards (QS1–QS4), allowing generation of a standard curve for precise viral load determination. This ensures reliable and reproducible quantification across different runs.

How the Assay Works

The assay follows a standardized molecular workflow:

  • Sample Collection & RNA Extraction: Viral RNA is extracted from human plasma samples using validated extraction methods.
  • Real-Time PCR Amplification: Extracted RNA is converted into complementary DNA (cDNA) which is amplified using HIV-specific primers in a thermal cycler.
  • Fluorescent Detection:Amplification signals are detected in real time:
    HEX channel: HIV target
    Cy5 channel: Internal control
  • Quantification: Viral load is calculated using a standard curve generated from QS1–QS4.

Why HIV Viral Load Testing Matters

HIV is a retrovirus that integrates into host cells and replicates using reverse transcription, leading to progressive immune system damage if untreated. Viral load measurement is a critical parameter in HIV management, as it reflects the level of viral replication in the body.

Quantitative HIV testing is essential for monitoring response to antiretroviral therapy (ART), detecting early treatment failure or viral rebound, assessing disease progression and supporting timely clinical decisions. Sensitive molecular detection methods such as RT-qPCR enable accurate measurement of low-level viremia, which is crucial for effective long-term disease management.
