3HDtect-Q Real Time PCR Kit

Qualitative Detection of Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV), Hepatitis C Virus (HCV), and Hepatitis B Virus (HBV) by Real-Time RT-PCR

The 3HDtect-Q Real-Time PCR Kit is a multiplex molecular assay designed for the simultaneous qualitative detection of HIV, HCV, and HBV nucleic acids in human plasma samples using real-time RT-PCR technology. It enables efficient screening of major blood-borne viral pathogens in a single reaction, supporting streamlined testing workflows and improved laboratory efficiency.

Product Overview

The 3HDtect-Q Real-Time PCR Kit enables simultaneous detection of three clinically significant viruses; HIV, HCV, and HBV, within a single reaction using target-specific primers and fluorescent probes.

RNA viruses (HIV and HCV) are reverse transcribed into complementary DNA (cDNA), while HBV DNA is directly amplified. Detection is achieved using probe-based fluorescence across distinct channels, allowing accurate identification of each target without cross-interference. An internal control is included to monitor nucleic acid extraction and amplification efficiency, ensuring the validity and reliability of test results.

How the Assay Works

The assay follows a standardized multiplex molecular workflow:

  • Sample Collection & Nucleic Acid Extraction: Viral RNA/DNA is extracted from human plasma samples using validated extraction methods.
  • Real-Time PCR Amplification: Target-specific primers amplify HIV, HCV, and HBV nucleic acids simultaneously.
  • Fluorescent Detection: Amplification signals are detected in real time using probe-based chemistry for each target.
  • Result Interpretation: Presence or absence of amplification signals determines qualitative detection of each virus.

Why Multiplex Viral Testing Matters

HIV, HBV, and HCV are major bloodborne pathogens associated with chronic infections, immunodeficiency, and liver disease. Co-infections are common, particularly in transfusion, transplant and high-risk populations, making simultaneous detection essential for effective screening and management.

Multiplex RT-PCR enables detection of multiple pathogens in a single reaction, reducing turnaround time, minimizing reagent usage, and improving laboratory efficiency while maintaining high sensitivity and specificity.
